  • It is so ironic that the measure is aimed at preserving supposed Judeo-Christian principles, when one of the earliest codices upon which our judicial system is based is the Code of Hammurabi, from ancient Babylon. Hammurabi is even displayed in bas-relief in the U.S. House of Representatives.

  • Social Security really isn't the problem. It's not in as much fiscal trouble as it's made out to be, and the trouble it IS in is largely because we've raided it year after year and never paid it back. Defense spending, on the other hand, needs a huge cutback.

  • 14k a year is certainly not a "pittance" on my budget! That aside, a tripling of fees from one year to the next is way too much, especially in such tough times. Education is an investment in a country's intellectual infrastructure.
